Seems a little harsh, max, although I’m frustrated, too.
Don’t know if I’ll ever get over that Humphrey/Atwell fubar, tbh. That choice was almost too obvious. They missed the layup, man.
Outside of that mistake and without the benefit of hindsight I think their OL moves have been reasonable. It’s taken a catastrophic series of interior OL injuries within a few weeks to bring the Rams to this point. I mean, they were literally forced to start their 9th OL last Sunday (Evans), a player nobody thought would even make the 53 but for the Bruss injury.
NO team could survive so many quick losses. None.
And then to compound the problem by having to play 3 top D’s in the first 5 games? Are you KIDDING me? Truly a recipe for disaster.
Even so, Snead has come up with Skura and Aboushi as bandaids to get us through the bye after which Allen and Shelton should be available.
I can’t conclude without a little criticism for McVay’s play calling which has exacerbated the problem. Deep drops or empty backfields when OL was struggling? Really? Abandoning the run, too much Akers and too little Hendo, not developing AR, etc.
Plenty of blame to go around.
