The red arrows are the assigned gap

the yellow lines are their off hand

notice how they don't shoot into the gap like one-gap
the kind of hug the blocker, head in gap, grab
and lean into the blocker they are squeezing
the gap next to them--meaning they have
'their own gap and are helping on the
gap next to them

not a perfect explanation or perfect shot
but that is basically the technique

that allows then also to disengage--and
disguise what their gap is... in a way

They can get loose and make a tackle
when the ball gets close
