Another part of the equation is an involvement in other sports. In relation to baseball pitchers it was determined that those that were multi-sport athletes in like basketball, volleyball, etc. actually helped their arms and bodies stay healthier. So much emphasis is spent on one sport that other areas of the body do not get as strong and therefore become injury prone. I know the athletic trainers at the pro level of all sports recognize this but those at the amateur levels into HS and college only focus on one sport for the most part.
