I think it's one thing to say he was (in 2021) probably the lowest performer among their 5 starting OL but another to say they'd like to bench him.
I do believe that Havenstein's new deal plus the drafting of Bruss makes it
really unlikely Edwards is kept in 2023. And maybe that was the case regardless.
But I don't think he's a liability. He's a decent, not great, guard. Other teams will like him come next March.
Maybe the Rams will be able to envision Bruss and Jackson as the starting guards next year. Or Shelton as one of them. Who knows. Probably does make Edwards odd man out. And if they are going to keep any of their pending UFA I would hope Gaines is at the top of the list. But again, I don't think all that means Edwards stinks. He's been a pretty good player for them overall.
