And it’s NOT because I think he’s the best ever.. it’s because the NFL, AND US, had and have lost the ability to factor in those things he does best. Which is NOT necessarily being Randy Moss, or Dante Adams.
Receiving had become adamantly formulaic… and Kupp’s specific abilities were NOT part of that formula.
And that’s odd to me.. and indicative of incredible stubbornness on the part of those in the NFL as well as us as fans BECAUSE… there have been several receivers of late that have excelled while NOT being touted as truly great WR’s… some, IMHO, won SB’s. It was always, “yeah but he can’t yada yada yada”. Probably most recognizable being Edelman, but there are several others.
IOW… the NFL, and we on this board, had become closed minded… to succeed you HAD to fit these very limited and narrow parameters…. and that was wrong… seriously wrong.
Of course you may agree with the above or not… but assuming I’m right.. or even partially right… I have to wonder… what about all the other positions?
IMHO Cooper Kupp may, (never discount the stubbornness of coaches)… change a LOT of the roles players are drafted to accomplish in the coming years.
