I believe there is a legitimate competition for backup QB and Perkins would not make it the practice squad, though Wolf perhaps could, particularly depending on how Vikings HC O’Connel views him. It seems clear to me Perkins has the higher ceiling, but it likely comes down to this: If McVay needed one to engineer a game winning drive or Stafford is going to be out for 2-3 games, who does he trust more?
i still think the whole backup qb thing is cheap window dressing.
i don't think wolford or perkins can replace stafford for more than 2 regular season games and zero post season games.
if we made it to the sb without stafford in that game, i do not believe either wolford or perkins could get us through that game unless the opposing qb was a 2nd or 3rd stringer. and it would depend on the team.
