Fan asked a question and her response was a bit of a dodge IMO.

First off CB2 generally means the other outside hash job. There's no real way to take it other than that, even if you have a great CB1 you can move around your second best corner is gonna be the CB2. CB3 is of course the slot, which nowadays is recognized as a starting role even if you don't get the intro video on Monday Night Football. After that there's the sub roles for situational packages but obviously your slot corner won't always be a guy who can play outside the hash. Hill can do that btw but most slot types cannot. Of our rookies Kendrick cannot and Durant might be able to but will have to prove he can play outside if he loses the slot role.

In regard to that question re: the CB2 role it's still too early for her to weigh on it because there hasn't been enough to see yet. All she can say is that the team obviously will want to get a long look at Rochell and Long to start camp. There's been a lot of players talking up Long and his dedication so that bears watching but I figure the Rams start with those two for that job.

Kendricks definitely has the lead in the slot. I'm a little surprised by that, I figured Durant would come in hot and hungry but at least he's asking questions it's just unfortunate for him that Kendricks is already knocking down passes in the redzone drills. If this continues then we might see Durant move outside for that CB2 competition, as he does have the wheels to do his thing without a safety on certain matchups. Though that's going to be a situation where it depends on whether one of those two can lock things down. If Long wins the job early for example and Kendricks wins the slot Durant's bench depth fighting for a package role.

Back to that slot corner role the reason you can use a lesser athlete there is because there's so much support in the middle. I know most know all this but just throwing it out there due to the way the tweet was worded. So there are two roles that must be settled in this camp, those being CB2 and CB3. Last year we gave up most of our yards out of the slot but solving the role opposite Ramsey is a big deal too. Rams are going to need to cover well this year, as they won't have Von's edge threat.
