Merlin with some thoughts on Rams developing secondary…

Here’s Merlin…

Last year's secondary would have been run out of the playoffs if we hadn't added Von. We were weak in the slot whenever Ramsey wasn't lined up there. Forget where I saw the stats but we were in the bottom group in slot yards allowed.

So the Rams drafting two slot corners and bringing Hill back were not coincidences. They know they need to be better this year in coverage. They can't be giving up easy completions across the middle with a lesser rush.

Generally slot corners can play/contribute quickly as rookies. So there is zero chance any of the holdovers move into that job. It's gonna be a rookie or Hill. And between the two we know what Hill is, which is a guy who does some dumb @#$%& at times. I think that job will go to Durant and he'll do well with it on the coverage side. Just need to rotate him out vs the power run teams on the sched.

Long and Rochell both need to be fully invested in that other outside hash job. Hill is a fallback there too but hopefully one of those holdovers has a great camp and makes a move to own the job. Ideally Hill serves in a nickel role, giving us one of the best depth pieces around in terms of flexibility as a plug and play nickel/dime.
