Ndamukong Suh rumored to be LA Rams solution to Brown suspension

The LA Rams are facing the early part of the 2022 NFL season, at least all of September and most likely all of October 2022 without the benefit of second-year defensive lineman Bobby Brown III. To me, that is not a major hurdle for the LA Rams, a team that has faced the loss of a contributing player for several weeks due to injury.
But to some, the absence of Bobby Brown to start the season is enough of a reason to force the LA Rams front office to do something. And by doing something, they mean signing another player. A name that keeps popping up in whispers, chat rooms, and social media so far is former LA Rams Ndamukong Suh. Suh last played for the LA Rams in 2018.
While Suh did not have incredible stats, he did help to unleash the best season of All-Pro DL Aaron Donald’s career. He also helped develop young defensive linemen like Sebastian Joseph Day, who followed up the following season by winning the starting role for the team. Suh would go on to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he would play for two seasons before he was released to the NFL Free Agency market.
Now Suh awaits a call to join a new NFL team. Right now, the Las Vegas Raiders and the Minnesota Vikings are two teams who may be signing Suh down the road. Some fans believe the LA Rams should toss their hat into the ring for Suh as well.
I’m not exactly sure that will happen.
3 reasons not to expect a Suh sighting in an LA Rams uniform
For starters, Suh is not looking for a six-week gig. He feels that he is worthy of a starting role, roles that the LA Rams already have filled with A’Shawn Robinson, Greg Gaines, and Aaron Donald.
Secondly, Suh seems to be a bit overkill for the loss of Brown. While I am as optimistic as anyone about Brown’s 2022 NFL season upside, he was a relatively redshirted rookie. So he will be earning his defensive snaps this year. Would Ndamukong Suh, a storied and savvy NFL veteran, be willing to subject himself to that same role? I may be going out on a limb, but I’m going to say no.
Worst of all, the articles suggesting that Suh is a viable and necessary signing for the LA Rams have completely glossed over the fact that the Rams are quite happy with Greg Gaines and A’Shawn Robinson as starters. And they all seem to ignore the fact that Marquis Copeland, Jonah Williams, and Michael Hoecht saw ever-increasing roles with the team last season, and will likely have even larger roles this year.
I wouldn’t completely rule out the likelihood for the LA Rams to act. But I would not be checking social media regularly to catch the announcement of signing Suh to a contract either.
