Andrew Whitworth is under contract for the 2022 season with our Rams for $3.3M !?!?
I know he announced his retirement. but i've also read that he's keeping in NFL shape working out with a couple of Rams O Linemen, Edwards and i think Noteboom are the 2.
so we are on the hook for all $3.3M of cap space whether he stays retired or not, as best as i can tell from his contract. but i'm not a cap guru so please correct me if i'm wrong cap gurus.
i really like the idea of Whitworth waiting in the wings (assuming he stays in NFL shape, which i suspect he will since he's probably addicted to at age 40) if we have an injury at either OT's during the 2022 season ~ even if it costs us $3.3M . ala Weddle even though Whit would cost much more but keeping Stafford upright is really that much more important.
From a Whit perspective ~ if it gets late in the season and something happens that causes us to call on him and we're in the hunt . . .
do you think he'd answer the call for a chance at a 2nd ring?
