Everyone thinks back to his '21 impact, which was considerable. As usual, the past is projected forward, always a dubious practice.
Every year is a new one. We added an excellent WR already, a guy who adds a dimension we have lacked. OBJ isn't really a speedster and I think our signed WR corps will be as productive as ever. I don't see a crying need for what OBJ offers.
As I have said before, I do not want to blow our limited cap space on another star WR. Not until we need one due to injury. And injury can happen at any position. I would like to, for a change, have some cap space to deal with contingencies without having to spend a lot of draft capital in short term trades.
I also don't trust OBJ's behavior over time. He behaved well ... for a few months on a SB run. Cool. Will he continue to show class over time? Perhaps in a season going sour? I dunno. Maybe. But I am not convinced he isn't a flake at heart and may slide into old, disruptive habits.
I just don't share the OBJ obsession. We can go a long way with the guys in our WR room. I'd rather get a dominant OG or C (won't happen) or a quality edge. And a little cap space for once would be nice.
