Those are certainly good ones. A'Shawn for me is definitely #1, Nick Scott seemed like a special teams only guy and then I watched him pick off the Goat, smash Deebo and be all over the place.

Weddle is interesting. I expected nothing from him so he too exceeded my expectations too. The fact that he wasn't a liability is amazing.

Frankly Greg Gaines exceeded my expectations too. I liked him as a rotational piece and he seemed to really blossom.

Brian Allen anchoring the line was a surprise of sorts.

Cam Akers coming back this year and playing meaningful minutes particularly against Arizona was nothing short of miraculous.

I guess when you win the big one, a lot of people exceed expectations and I think we will be better next year overall.

Great post, George. You remind us that a SB win comes with many contributions from many sources. And not a few good bounces.

I love ‘em all, but I stand by my Big 3 choices. They had the most excess beyond my personal expectations by a rather large margin.
