The market spoke on Boom

March 29, 2022 06:39AM
It says Boom has a lot to prove. That his snaps have been small in sample size. If the NFL agreed with PFF on Boom he would have had big time offers and been signed away because teams are desperate for LTs. Indy for example would have pounced on him alone.

IMO discounts happen when a player doesn't get the market they want. Then they spin it as they wanted to return and all that. Not to say that he didn't want to return to LA, but observing that it wouldn't have mattered had he gotten a big deal on the market. If a team out there had thrown money at him he'd be gone because the Rams weren't gonna risk a big deal on him.

His contract in the 2023 season goes up to 12th overall as things stand right now. After next offseason and some more churn as some guys get paid he'll probably be in the 15-20 range somewhere which seems to indicate that the Rams got their price on him. I mean we don't know what their price was, but his current contract seems appropriate and conservative for the team which doesn't happen in FA if you're young and available and can play LT at a high level.
