My dad's parents came over through Ellis Island...They ended up in Pennsylvania and my grandfather worked as a coal miner.

A small town outside of Pottsville, PA called St.Claire, PA.

They only spoke Ukrainian and all their children learned English and grew up in that small town. They all worked hard and lived honest lives.

We'd always go back 2-3 times a year...Drove across America from CA to PA. during the 70's and 80's. I have been in all USA states except Alaska.

My memories have been going on like a slide show in my head for the last few weeks....Praying everyday for a cease fire.

I'm going to make some Holubtsi (stuffed cabbage) for my family this weekend in HONOR of Ukraine. We called them Haloopki's!
