The 3rd down numbers.
I found this site for the splits.

In 2020, Goff's 3rd down rating was 82.5
In 2021, Stafford's was 104.3
That's a huge difference.
I'm not a Goff hater by any means. And I'm not a very good football stat analyzer. But this really stood out to me as an important stat as doing well consistently on 3rd down can be a game changer.
Thoughts?
Jared scrapped though adversity during the end of the 2018 season and helped lead the Rams to the SB.
He had a couple of chances to beat the Patriots in his SB appearance and barely missed on the opportunities.
After the 2019 season, Goff was on the hot seat. Many on this board blasted me for posting such a thing.
He got one more chance under McVay in 2020 and was unable to deliver.
Not a knock-on Jared, but he wasn't able to answer the challenge and McVay did what he had to when the Stafford opportunity fell in his lap.
I will always be a fan of Goff when he's not playing the Rams. I'm a known big advocate of JG leading up to him being drafted number one overall.
Goff helped turn this franchise around and I will always appreciate him.
The kid is still young enough to take his game to another level if he gets a strong supportive team around him.
The Rams were blessed that Matthew Stafford became available to them.
I'm reclined back in my armchair wondering what the new Stafford contract extension numbers will end up being.
