Yes, I heard the same thing yesterday. Chris Simms was discussing this yesterday and was trashing the process as arcane and in dire need of reform.

In fact, there are only 16 media members voting for the SB MVP and they have to do vote at the 2 minute warning. First of all, that is far too few people influencing a fairly significant award. Secondly, the final two minutes are when legends are born, so how can you leave that out?

We can't wait five minutes for somebody to count 16 votes at the end of a game? The league MVP gets plenty of time for consideration -- surely a SB MVP can wait for a couple minutes after the game, while people are celebrating and not really giving much thought to who might be the MVP as the confetti is raining down.
