Couldn't agree more 43.
How those that cover football as a sport, or have played the game can look at his career and think he's anything less than a top tier QB are envious, stupid, or worse.
It's absurd to look at his body of work and fault him for not winning more in Detroit when everyone knows that team is a dumpster fire.
And to put him in the category of game manager like A Trent Dilfer, who WAS an average at best QB inserted into a super team, is ludicrous and disrespectful.
Stafford does get loose with the football at times and makes mistakes, sure does.
But, there are many plays that he makes because he is a gambler, gunslinger type. You take the good with the bad. Do we score a TD on that final drive in the SB if he doesn't have the nerve to look Bell off of Kupp and hit him with a no look pass because of the space it created? Who knows. I'm sure happy he did it now though.
As an example, I'm pretty sure most of the folks that are belittling Stafford's accomplishments would have Brett Favre high on their list of best QBs to play the game...
Favre being another gunslinger, risk-taking QB.
Stafford's career TDs to Int is 323/161.
Favre's is 508/336. Interesting.
Both guys have 1 SB each and Stafford is still playing with the opportunity to add more.
I think many would agree that Green Bay is a better run organization than Detroit and out better players around Favre than Stafford had alongside him.
Yet Favre is a hall of famer, and Stafford is ok in their eyes.
It just doesn't add up.
Maybe it's because Favre has a "big" personality? 😊
