Re: What's the word on Bengal's defense?

February 09, 2022 11:19AM
Both teams I believe will try to make the other team do high play drives.
Make both QBs throw the underneath routes.

Looking at games that Bengals have won/lost....
When you draw out their # of plays per score... Bengals tend to end up with a FG instead of a TD more often than not.

In games Bengals have won and scored big, they almost always had a big gain on a play. Like 2-3 plays 75 yards results in TD.

This isn't to say that Burrows can't be patient and take what the defense gives him on short routes. Bengals can definitely score on long methodical drives, but you have to limit the big plays because they tend to score large amounts when they have big plays.

Which QB is better at being patient? Tough to say. I think Rams do better on longer drives when the running game is in motion.. vs having Stafford pass every 5 yards to score. Whereas Burrows might seem to do better in manhandling longer drives by himself, especially with the added bonus that he can run.

What might be frustrating for Rams fans on Sunday is watching the front 4 break the OL but not get to Burrows because of his escapability.
Then watching him go 1:1 on Reeder. If the front 4 can't tackle Burrows, then I think Rams fans will scream about why zone, why give 5 yards of space as he runs or passes for 5 yard chunks.
