There's a big hoohah about thread controversies going on here. I have no opinion on it.
But.
I feel oppressed by enormous threads in which I have no interest. I want the option to collapse the thread.
If one could shrink the thread to 1 line, I think the vast majority who are interested would be happily able to focus on what they care about. This is especially important with a long thread from the past bumped for reconsideration. I think that can be cool, but what if a 38-post thread becomes a 52-post monster? If I think the old theme is finished, must I scroll through it all again?
Actually, I would appreciate being able in general to collapse and open all threads. It's frustrating to have to scroll a long way to see a dozen topics even if the threads are stellar. Can't we collapse a long thread after eagerly devouring each of its posts?
Collapsible threads are pretty standard. Can we add that capability?
