So the Rams already drafted Reeder's replacement, he was just coming back off injury and they didn't want to install their defensive gameplan around him then have to change it if he can't go.
Jones is the guy. He is the starter. Reeder will be back to depth in this Super Bowl game, where he should be. He's a very good LB off the bench, a near-starter if you will. Near-starter because of some of his weaknesses, though the guy does some things very well and I want to give him credit for how the defense has played while he has been wearing the green dot.
But now we're back to 50 who was drafted for this moment and role. And when you consider how well Howard is playing, which is to say he has been a man possessed, it means we should have our best two ILBs on the field together for the biggest game.
That's not to say Reeder might not stay in a run package if they are concerned with Howard holding up. But at this point I would install Jones in there as the starter with all the snaps barring those heavy run unit situations. I would let him do his thing and when I bring in a second ILB that guy is Howard. Which means Howard should outsnap Reeder if they balance it right.
