She served in the USCG in WWII. Hardly 3 weeks before this class photo was taken....IT SNOWED in Jacksonville!! She was reading to us when we all saw the flurries out the window. She KNEW we were so excited but still said....."Pay attention! I'll be done in 15 minutes". After another minute or two, she smiled and said..."Let's go outside!" We freaked out and bolted for the door. School let out at 3 PM. Mrs Hagen let us go outside at around 2:30. I still can remember her watching us with a smile. She knew it was the first time any of us saw snow. About 10 minutes later, the school Principal came over the P.A. and announced.... "School is dismissed!" You guys should have heard the screams of joy.
