My Brother and I made our first trip to Tallahassee to see our Gators play the HATED Seminoles. For YEARS we used to say...."How sweet would it be to see our Gators beat the crap out of the Noles in Tally". Gators DOMINATED for three quarters plus 2 minutes. Could do NO wrong! With just under 13 minutes to play, the Gators led THIRTY ONE to THREE!!! Gators RB, Fred Taylor had an asthma issue, that all but killed the run game. No problem...We were KILLING them with the pass. But then.....players slipped on routes, blitzes were not picked up.....Noles converted a key 4th down... Wuerffel threw a HORRIBLE pass that was picked off. Noles came back to tie it and were maybe 5-10 yards from FG range when time expired.
In Raymond James Stadium, we were up 27 to 3. A Bucs fan to my left was with his Teen Son. I told him ......You guys have Brady and I was at the Choke At Doak!! We do NOT have enough points! And dammit to hell!!!! It started falling apart seconds later. When Akers fumbled the last time, I sank in my seat and looked down. Hearing the Bucs fans go nuts took me back to looking at the ground the last 5-6 minutes during the Choke At Doak and just listening to the Noles fans as an indicator of that game.
SOOOOOOOO glad the bleeding stopped!
