Instead of trying to out physical a team that wants to play that way, why not get the other team out of their element.
Maybe not 7 step drop backs, but a blitz of tempo, hurry up offense, with short quick passes and make their pass rushers rush 50+ times to wear them down.
Mix in runs to keep defense honest. The more plays the 49ers pass rushers have to rush, the more tired they will get.
The last thing you want is:
1-10 - Run stuffed
2-9 - Run stuffed
3-8 - 49ers know pass is coming and Stafford is sacked
That offense is called the Run, Run, Pass, Punt offense that Fisher made famous.
a 3 minute drive with about 10 passes and 5 rushes without huddling and getting a touchdown. Stop the 49ers on defense and do it a second time. 20 passes with no huddles and no chance for the 49ers pass rushers to sub out.
How does it make sense to try to structure a game that plays to the 49ers strength?
