well, anyone who knows me knows I detest the 49ers.
every year it's about, it's always about destroying them.
Elation was blossoming during that first half, but I was appalled to see the empty set on 3rd and inches. I figure even we don't move the chains there on 3rd down, we go for it on 4th down. It's jugular time. The only, ONLY issue there is to not have a negative outcome on 3rd down: No presnap movement, no holds, and certainly don't get nailed in the backfield on a run down for a loss, or wildly don't get an interception or a sack.
With a moment to reflect on the outcome, I've had long running declaration that we're light at LB. The Chiefs beat the 9ers with solid linebacking. Shanny is killing us on run downs and there's not a lousy thing we've been able to do about it.
It's a scheme issue now. The club is expecting some odd set of 4-1-6 to stop the run. I think I saw Reeder paired with Howard just once in schemes I stopped and watched.
At some point, I can't expect Dante, and smaller DBs to come up and make those stops. Floyd didn't help me much either on containment.
I'm also concerned about the lack of rotation for Floyd and Von Miller.
Hollis was in there some, but I felt there was zero contribution from Obo.
All this aside, sure appears that we need to bring some new blood in at LB. Missing Jones hurts, but that Rozeboom is active but not consider in rotation just adds to the hurt. And the Senior Bowl is a great place to start.
The question might be whether Staley or Morris ever had a sense of the SF mindset, and ever made the appropriate adjustments. I'd say no.
Felt for a while now we didn't quite replace John Johnson, either.
So, yeah. #21. Should the club blow up on Monday night, is this an opportunity to change at DC again? I know it seems unwise to bring yet another DC, but there's some huge plays being given up. Is it all talent related? I can't imagine.
