Expectations and missed opportunities

January 10, 2022 04:13AM
I look at it this way, personally. Before the season I thought the Rams would win anywhere from 10 games on the low end to 13 on the high end (and I leaned toward 12). And I thought they would win the division. Well, they won 12 games and the division...

Now, that said, I'm as disappointed as anyone in the opportunity they blew. Not just to break the losing streak to SF and knock them out of the playoffs and all that, but to secure a 2 seed and play a pretty banged up Saints team next week. And a win there would guarantee a 2nd round home game.

They blew that opportunity. No question. They came out gangbusters and played well overall running up that 17-0 lead. Couldn't run the ball much but the important thing was they kept running. To be up 17-0 at home 24 minutes into the game and lose to anyone is inexcusable. It is.

They've played 17 games and to me this is one of the top 7 teams in the league- and one that has trouble vs. power running teams. 0-3 vs. TEN and SF and 12-2 vs. everyone else. Also 4-5 when turning the ball over 2+ times and 8-0 when they don't.

Tough(er) game now next Monday vs. Arizona but one they should win. After that? Steep climb and odds aren't with them. We'll see... it's up to them..
