Narrative implies that it's manufactured or false. Which isn't the case. This team is soft. Mentally and physically and got beat down by a depleted SF team. In their own house. This game was a point of emphasis for the players and McVay and they still got pushed around and ultimately choked on multiple opportunities to win. There is no narrative, the Rams embarrassed themselves and deserve all the criticism coming their way. They are pretenders. Most times they get a chance to prove otherwise, they fail. They frequently get embarrassed in national games and have earned their soft reputation.
This is why no one respects the Rams and why they don't have any fans in the stands. It's bad enough to lose but fans can deal with that. When you get embarrassed, no one wants to support you. When you appear mentally weak and physically beaten, there is no pride in that for the fans. I know that I'm finding it difficult to defend them. Shame is a tough thing and that's too often what it's like as a Rams fan. '83 Redskins, '85 Bears, '89 49ers, '01 Pats, '18 Pats...it's hard to lose but the Rams get EMBARRASSED.
