and think he's the most talented passer the Rams have had....EVER.
BUT...
....he's not -consistently - throwing well the last 8 weeks. imo
..and the incomplete passes to OBJ were Stafford's fault...not OBJ. Stafford has been off for a few months..I dunno why...looks like injury to finger is affecting his grip or something. Stafford rarely underthrows deep balls and he's been doing it off & on for about 8weeks or so. I think he's playing injured like Kurt used to when his thumb didn't work.
Anyway, I'm Stafford's biggest fan and love his aggressive game and don't mind trading INTs at times for big plays. Martz used to never cared about INTs unless they were stupid decisions. Stafford has done that a few times this year and, unfortunately, that's part of his game too. Stafford will always have double digit INTs every year...that's just how he plays the game. Stafford has 36TDs to 13 INTs. When was the last time we had stats like that from our QB spot?? GSOT?? 20yrs ago? I dunno, but I'll take the aggressive shots downfield to check-down Charlie(Goff/Bradford).
But we have to call it straight when Stafford is not playing smart or throwing poorly...and he's been doing both a bit too much in NOV (less so in DEC).
Let's hope Stafford's finger/thumb heals or McVay just gets him to settle down with his aggressive passing until his hand heals and he can execute those passes with more strength & accuracy. Stafford missed several WRs against the Vikes...and that's the truth.
