We have 2 of the best mobile QBs in the league in the NFC West and so the team has been designed to defense those guys.
And, the coaching teaches especially the outside guys to get no deeper than the QB and then hold the edge while creeping towards him. But.... you must have the interior rush for it to work. And with Donald and now Gaines we're able to generate pressure up the middle and Donald and Gaines are quite agile for DTs so they are pretty good at trapping those QBs.
The reality is for both Russ and Murphy they do the most damage on scrambles and leaving the pocket. Keeping them in the pocket changes their game and also frustrates them.
Lamar is just a great runner. However, he can be bottled up too. The Rams have everything they need to keep him in check. They just need to execute.
