Re: after watching last nights game and comparing the similarities to our victory over the Jags

You know, when a team runs three plays in a row they usually get a first down. Sure they could get stopped once or twice, but any broken tackle could lead to that first down. Many HCs know this and will run until you stop the run and that makes total sense. If you've watched the Rams throughout the last five decades we've always had a strong running game. McCutcheon started it in the 70s. ED, MF, TG30. That amazing guy who should be in hall and just didn't make it. We could always run the rock and our teams usually won. We didn't always have the big QB too, but when we did we went to the SB 4 times and won one. Two, if you're like me and won't give the cheaters that 2001 game. Point is we have all kinds of passing threats so we pass. But, if we establish a running game and go into the half with a lead we are undefeated (under McVay). The Niners keep beating us with the run. We can do it too.
It takes a lot of patience to run, run, run. Especially if you have a QB with a great arm and guys who can catch and run. But, when you drop back to pass a lot of bad things can happen. Your QB can get sacked, sacked And stripped, you can get a holding penalty to avoid a sack. Your QB can throw an interception. ( this can be a bad throw or a tipped pass or a Db jumping the play) There can be offensive PI. Your receiver can catch the ball and then fumble. Your QB can get injured. Your receiver can get injured. You get the idea. Running games are simpler. They don't always have the big payoff but you keep the ball, move down the field and score. The other team's O is watching as their D can't stop the attack and wince as they peer up at the clock. I love running plays.
