Mcvay definitely has fault in this collapse of the last three games. Stafford has played poorly and really hurt this team in these losses. His play almost got us back in this game but it was to little to late. Mcvay has too much of a hands off approach on his defense and special teams because he is so caught up in play calling. He also has no one to bounce off play calls with whenever you see him he is always by himself on offense staring into his play call sheet. He needs to be more involved in the flow of the game and both sides of the ball.

McVay needs to evolve into becoming a complete head coach and not just an overtitled offensive coordinator. You're right that he needs to be the guy who monitors his coordinators choices instead of having unchecked power. We know the man knows football, but he may be taking himself out of the rhythm of the game with his nose buried in the playsheet.

I can't find a quote, but I seem to remember when Vermeil returned to coaching he made a statement essentially saying that he realized he had to step back and let his coordinators do their job while he looked at the big picture.
