Re: Russell Wilson is nearing the end

I'm not surprised to hear media heads blaming Pete. But, let's get serious here. Russell Wilson is touted over and over as the best deep ball passer in the league. Really? Let me ask this. Can anyone tell me what percentage of his deep ball passes are off-script, outside the pocket? No doubt a majority of them. Why? Simple answer. Wilson has rarely throughout his career been able to stand in the pocket and deliver deep strikes. He does not have that ability. So, calling him the best deep passer in the league is just utterly misleading. More accurately, he is one of the best off-script players, not only in the league today, but of all-time. Personally, however, I was never impressed with Fran Tarkenton's run around gimmicks. Russell Wilson is just a modern day version of the same thing. Too short, average arm strength, and limited accuracy from the pocket. Kudos to Pete for letting Russell be himself for many years - i.e., run around on broken plays and make something happen downfield, or just scamper for yardage on his own. To his credit, Wilson has succeeded in maximizing his limited skillset as an NFL QB. But when the man's legs go, he is done in the NFL as a supposedly elite QB. You will never see a 40 year old Russell Wilson in the NFL. You have to have a Brady-like arm and elite mental capacity to pick apart defenses. I do not see either of those attributes in Wilson. The end is near.
