12 Personnel and 3rd down stops

So McVay solved this puzzle in the 2nd half of 2019 (seems like ages ago). Run. The. Ball. But back then he had Higbee, Everett along with Mundt whereas now he doesn't have the horses, nor, apparently, the inclination. But make no doubt that's what is needed on the offensive side of the ball. Someone recently mentioned Darren Fells?

Defensively, last year Staley excelled at getting off the field on 3rd down. He ran specific ways for AD and Ramsey on situational plays, both to get after the QB and play Ramsey where the opposing QB couldn't avoid him. We need this kind of situational leadership again. Those two long first half drives by Shanahan had me gritting my teeth.
