I think they miss him. No question. He's a good interior defender who can play the run and rush the passer. But I think what happened to them last night defensively was not at all an "if only we had SJD in there" night. They were collectively mauled. Miller said something along the lines of "we hit guys at 3 yards and they fell at 7" and that's absolutely true.
Turnovers. Drops. (ill-timed) Penalties. Missed tackles. All those are things you don't figure out how to fix, in my opinion. You decide TO fix them- or not.
it did seem like that but the Niners only averaged 3.5 YPC last night....take out Deebo's runs and it would be like 3 YPC
they ran the ball 44 times for 156.... the unfortunate turnovers that resulted in 14-0 and 12 minutes off the clock gave the Niners the perfect game script.
Had the Rams had the fortune of a 14-0 lead it probably would have been a Rams blow out win.....The Rams averaged 5.6 YPC btw
