It was a bad game and I wish McVay had some kind of rollout package he could resort to earlier. But it was a strange day in the NFL and the Rams were not spared. At least we will have time with our bye coming up in a couple of weeks. My chin is still up.
You would think a type A genius like McVay is purported to be, would have a contingency plan in place for every possibility. Bellichek does, it's how he came up with the ineligible receiver trick. There should be a "if our interior OL is getting blown up" battle plan. An "impossible to stop edge rusher" plan. A "press man exclusive defense" set of plays to beat man coverage. An "exclusive zone team with great speed linebackers", or "teams that are zero blitzing with superior corners every play". If he doesn't have time to, he should task his offensive staff to do so. This insures what happened at the Super Bowl never happens again. A contingency plan of attack for any situation. What happened today is a repeat of the Super Bowl, we had a way of doing things that works majority of the time, but when it doesn't we are screwed because we don't have an alternative.
