First of all I love Woods, I followed him out of high school and college, I think I like him more than Stafford likes him. It is my belief that we have three receivers that are almost identical, I am talking about physical talent, Kupp, Woods and Jefferson are almost interchangeable, but Kupp and Woods have identical contracts and with a salary cap we need cap room to fix the defense. I subscribe to the old Raider theory, with Branch and Freddy. Kupp is staffords go to guy, so now we need a receiver that can take the top off a defense not just a fast receiver who I believe is Jackson, and the third receiver I would have as a large big red zone guy like Jacob Harris or Ben Skowronek.
McVay likes the Patriots model, each receiver is a skilled technician. I like big fast athletes that can make you pay if you misplay the ball (again Tutu is not in this category).
The Falcon's have resurected Cordelle Patterson's career, he was a first round pick by the Viking's and bounced from to the Bears, Raiders and now to the Vikings. Aurther Smith the former OC for the Titans now the Falcon's HC is trying to recreate Derrick Henry with Patterson. Patterson is a big explosive athlete that can take it the distance anytime you forget about him, his replacement is Davis who had a nice season when McCaffrey went down but he is reliable (Kupp, Woods, Jefferson) not dangerous (Jackson).
There is no other coach I want over McVay, sometimes I feel he gets emotionally attached to a player and does not make the right decision, Was extremely proud of him cutting the cord with Goff, I hope he does the same thing with Woods, he is not worth his contract.
Nice reply, Stafford9, but I remain unconvinced.
I subscribe to that old saying, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. Our WR corps is far from broken, so let’s don’t ‘fix’ it.
Besides, I suspect that Woods’ intangible values are worth almost as much as those we all see on the field.
