Tannehill and Henry banged up...

It would be nice if Tannehill and Henry weren't at their best in SoFi. Back to back road games and coming off an OT win may find them less than 100%.

Concern over Henry and Tannehill

The longest postgame session of the Titans’ season, by far, ended up that way because assembled reporters kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting on Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill. In the end, Henry requested a “rain check” through the Titans public relations people because he was receiving treatment afterward. Tannehill also received treatment, after a nasty hit on a late sack in regulation that left him with a neck injury. He walked into and out of the room gingerly, and it was the same story as he walked down the tunnel toward the team bus to the airport – he was basically shuffling.

Tannehill used the word “sore” to describe his neck, and it might be that he just needs some time and will be ready by midweek. But a guy who has had serious knee and shoulder injuries in the past, but nothing of note in Nashville, looked he might end up on the injury report in the next week. That’s more clarity than we got for Henry, who clearly was not himself for most of a 28-carry, 68-yard performance – he couldn’t accelerate through some holes, and he was working something out at least twice on the sidelines during the game.

So it’s Tannehenry Watch this week, in the less entertaining way, while the Titans will also wait to see if Jeff Simmons (ankle) will be ailing, Nate Davis and Dane Cruikshank can get out of concussion protocol, and a host of other key players such as Julio Jones, Kristian Fulton, Rashaan Evans and Jayon Brown can return. The late loss of Davis, in particular, was costly with rookie Dillon Radunz struggling in pass protection. The Titans earned some cushion in the divisional race if they want to be cautious. But when it comes to that No. 1 seed, the Bills’ remaining schedule is soft and the margin for error is low.
