Could be just to have some cap space flexibility

We were up against the cap. Could be just to have some flexibility. Every time a player goes on IR and the rams sign a new player to the 53, they chew into the leftover cap space. Assuming the players we bumped up get the minimum salary and they are only up for three weeks, they would cost the rams about 240000 dollars. Another player goes down, and then we are out of cap space. That is just for those three games. Also we signed two new players to the practice squad. That will add another 20000 to the cap each week (220000 for the rest of the year).

Having extra cap space at the end of the year is not a bad thing, as it rolls into the cap space for the following year. I would not mind getting a blocking TE and a 7th for a 6th, but the move may not be to set up a trade.
