I hated to show our hand this early and in a game like yesterday's was. I get that the offense needed a spark but at that point they were still knocking some rust off from the mini bye.

They should've kept in their back pocket for a more dire game situation. Oh well they won so...

NFL teams throughout the season that call rare trick plays, fake punts are not be kept as some special timing secret in a super dire need game.

Back pocket or front pocket... When the time is right, you jump on it.

You can't use analytics and what we might perceive as a more important times to delay these calls for future games.

These plays have a rare enough hit rate as it is.

Thinking you can simply save them all for later in the season or against better teams in more dire need moments is not how it works in the NFL.

They are low percentage plays as it is. You pounce on them when the time is right. You don't save them up and hope they work against better teams in more desperate times.
