Here’s Jourdan…

Interesting notes on the defensive backfield

The Rams’ secondary rotation was heavy and rapid early in the game — it featured, at times, Burgess in the Star, the Rams in heavy dime with Nick Scott, Donte Deayon in the slot (not the “Star”; though Ramsey did still play some “Star” clearly because of Deayon’s flexibility to move inside or outside) — and very clearly settled in after that first drive.

Deayon, who was elevated from the practice squad just Saturday (and who historically has mostly contributed on special teams), played through the bulk of the game instead of Long (who Rochell replaced last week). Long did come in the game late and he and Deayon were among the defensive players who finished out the fourth quarter.

Overall, McVay and the Rams players who spoke postgame felt the group rose to the occasion.

“We had a brother down, with D-Will,” said Rapp, “and everyone had to step up, so, really proud of everyone and how they handled their roles and everyone stepped up. Great moving in the right direction, we just have to keep building.”
