I really don't know what Hurts is, and I don't think anyone else does either.
It's because when you put a QB on a bad team, he'll look bad more often than not. It's hard to get a measure on what he really is in his own right.
The ONLY thing that even somewhat saves him are his legs. The problem is, the legs are the first things to go on a QB, and when a QB that depends on the run starts getting inevitably beat up, his overall game really suffers. Or he relies too heavily on those legs and the passing game suffers.
The other issue is that I'm not sure who on this board is qualified/knowledgeable enough to assess how Hurts reads D's; how fast he goes through progressions; if he is throwing to the right guy according to the play design and the D that is being run; does he manipulate the D with his eyes.... stuff like that, which is what separates the elite QBs from the rest.
The problem is that modern hype tries to make the separation between the average and the elite not their brains but rather as how athletic they are, and if they are equally good at running the ball.
I'm just glad Hurts is an Eagle and not a Ram; and glad Stafford is a Ram and not an Eagle.
