Finally got back home after taking in the road game at Seattle.
My family and I had a GREAT time in the pacific northwest and would recommend all Rams fans to travel there for a game at least once.
The trip from Burbank to SeaTac was a little over 2 hours and (if you stay downtown) a rental car isn't necessary as they have an efficient rail system that takes you from the airport direct to the stadium (and downtown) in only 30 minutes. We arrived in the AM and you can tell that (unlike LA where there are so many professional teams) the Seahawks are the lifeblood of the city. EVERYWHERE you look, people are wearing their Seahawk garb in one form or another. But not to be outdone, Rams fans were out as well...enough so that I could yell out
WHO'S HOUSE?, and get the
RAMS HOUSE!!! response from across the street downtown. And it only got better Friday and the rest of the weekend.
Listening to talk radio on the way to the game, you tell that Seahawk fan was very nervous. They weren't outright talking about winning, but rather...
if Stafford is off like the Arizona game...if the D can make a couple of plays. That type of stuff. They know they have problems on defense and just didn't want to get beat down on national TV.
Lumen Field is a VERY NICE stadium. As it was gray and overcast when we arrived that morning, we prepared for rain curing the game. But nope. The sun broke out and hour before game time and it was a beautiful evening. And even though it was only about 80% full that night...it gets VERY LOUD. We sat on the Rams' side near the top which is under the roof portion. It's like being in a jet engine where you can't hear the person next to you (even though they're shouting). Can't imagine what it's like for the players/coaches. Not recommended if you have a bad back/knee that prevents you from standing because the only break you get is at halftime. An excellent game experience.
Seahawk fan is cool. Pretty good banter back in forth without beer/trash/punches being thrown in your direction. Of course, after the game, I was chirping a little louder than they were (despite losing my voice midway through the 2nd quarter). Heard a couple of
Yeah, but if Russell played the 4th quarter type of stuff, but I shut that down by telling them that if he'd played the 4th quarter, then Donald would've likely broken another one of Wilson's fingers. That, and me mentioning their punter kicked the ball twice on the same play (which they saw as embarassing) kinda shut down any remaining back talk. I get the sense, though, that with the loss and Wilson's injury, they were def bummed as most folks declined to fly their colors the next day.
Spent the rest of the weekend there (primarily in downtown) and had a great time. VERY NICE people there...we will be returning.
