Mahommes and the Chief's offense was the newest trend. Reid's pinball like offense with smaller incredibly fast and quick skill players caught the league off guard. But other teams have smart guys on them, too. And now DC's are better understanding how to muffle guys like Mahommes, and how to take away some of the big play ability. 12 play drives are not what that offense is designed for and certainly goes against Mahommes' nature.
By the way: the Niners showed the league how to deal with the Cardinals high flying offense and DCs who have to face the Cards will be pouring over that game film. For one thing, the Offense needs to take time off the clock. For another, it is pressure up the middle and containing Murphy on the perimeter that is the key. It has to be co-ordinated and the Rams' D against them was completely out of sync in that regard. You MUST force Murphy to go backward away from the LOS and not allow him to remain essentially horizontal to the LOS to escape the oncoming rushers.
If the Niners had any working offense to speak of yesterday they would have won that game. And BTW: Lance is a long way from becoming a viable NFL QB. They do that game plan with him again, and he'll be too beat up to even attend practice the following week. I actually felt sorry for the kid.
