That is a tough win to get regardless. They should be very happy to come away with a 9-point win.
Biggest issues from this game (and to improve in general) coming out of this game:
Offense
- Stafford simply is missing a handful of throws per game he should make. I would guess the index finger was a factor last night. The wide open miss to Woods over the middle, for example. I think that will come along. Season is still young.
Defense
- for all the talk of Morris' scheme (or lack there of) to me their biggest issue on defense is a lack of consistent pressure. Last night they had 4 QB pressures in 37 attempts. Combine that with facing a mobile QB again (actually two) and it's hard for any secondary to hold up that long. Lewis made some noise. Hopefully Hollins is back in early December. But pure pass rush execution across the front seven HAS TO improve. It would cure a lot of what ails them.
Special teams
- not sure what to say about last night. Fumbled opening KOR after tripping on grass. Missed XP.
Two kickoffs out of bounds. And two snaps (one on a punt and one on a FG) that were high. They did block a punt (though that was a bizarre sequence I still don't understand...) and Hekker punted well overall (44 yard net avg.), plus Gay nailed the late 47-yarder. But some pretty bad stuff in there that just can't happen.
