Rams need to start playing a big physical receiver who can dominate smaller DBs. They should start playing Ben Skowronek or Jacob Harris especially in the red zone. Seems like Robert Woods is not clicking with Matt Stafford.
Rams should explore trading Robert Woods for an inside linebacker who can cover tight ends and tackle. Kenny Young, was exposed today for his lack of speed and poor tackling.
David Long was exposed as the weak link in the secondary along with Taylor Rapp. They need to replace David Long with Robert Rochell.
Terrell Burgess or Nick Scott should replace Taylor Rapp at free safety. Rapp is always a step slow and tackling from behind. Rapp lack of foot speed is his weakness in coverage. Rapp does tackle but he plays more like an inside linebacker but lacks size and does not have the foot speed to play free safety. Rapp reminds me of Adam Archuleta....a good tackler but terrible in open space as a free safety. Both got beat frequently by faster tight ends and receivers.
Losing John Johnson at free safety was huge.
Kenny Young does not lack for speed. Instincts maybe, but not speed. Quite the contrary.
But I do agree that Long and Rapp were our weakest links in the secondary today and Murray feasted on them all game long. Morris either must change the players or the schemes. Preferably both, IMO.
Otherwise, every QB is gonna abuse them until Rams prove that they can stop it. Law of the jungle thing.
