About the punter situation here are my thoughts. The stats can tell the wrong story. The YPK depends largely as to from where the punter is kicking. If deep in his own end booming a long one to swap the field is the best strategy. When you are kicking near midfield you are trying to kill it inside the 10 yard line. There are directional punts where you kick it toward the sidelines so your coverage can stop a return. You can kick a knuckles and try to get a muff. You can fake it and throw a pass. Sometimes on a strong return you might have to tackle the returner. Not saying the kid can't boom it but overall the Rams went with the better, all around experienced punter. Besides all that, Hekker is a team leader and a beloved teammate. I love the decision.
