McVay is gonna have a ‘problem’ all season long with getting snaps for DJ.
It’s because Rams are legit 4 deep with quality starting caliber WR’s and a top drawer TE in Higbee.
What’s McVay to do?
Go 4 WR’s but take Higbee off the field?
Go empty and have 5 guys in the pattern?
Maybe take one of Woods, Kupp, or Jefferson off the field to insert DJ? For a breather?
Barring injury, snaps are gonna probably be slim for DJ until further notice. Nice ‘problem’ to have, isn’t it?
Another thing I picked up from this presser is that sometimes plays are called with Higbee or Woods as the primary but Stafford reads the field so well that he sees the open guy and throws to him instead. Obviously, oftentimes Kupp is that open guy. It’s a beautiful thing to see such a capable QB in horns, huh?
