I wonder if NBC screws with the volume?

Every time the Bears did anything there were roars from the crowd. I didn't see many Bears fans though. Does NBC artificially amplify the crowd on the tv broadcast? Stadium was pretty loud but I got the feeling that the fans were somewhat timid about getting too excited, too soon.
