Lawler plays a primarily run stop position at SSLB.
Garrett primarily a pass rush position at WSLB.
Only rarely do you every rush both OLBs. Garrett was probably given the most chances to have his number called as a pass rusher.
What makes Floyd so darn special and a must keep is that he does it all well. He could play either side; but he plays the run so wonderfully to go along with great pass rush ability, that he's the ideal SSLB.
Not sure Garrett can ever play the run as well. But in my opinion, playing the run is more want-to than anything else. So if Garrett really wants to, he has a chance to become another Floyd like player in a couple of years. Long, quick, fast, violent, instinctive. Just not very strong yet, and fairly raw.
Anyway, game one seemed to feature Lawler pass rushing a lot; game two featured the other side of the line on the WS pass rushing a lot. They're both keepers for sure.
