Outfoxing the majority of folks on this board is not too difficult. They were never going to draft a C high, and people in the know knew that. McVay and Snead have said it before, they draft playmakers in the higher rounds. They were not going to go into this year with a new QB and new C in a complicated offense. Drafting a C to have him sit a year or more would make no sense. Allen has risen to the occasion. He had talent and got hurt, but for those who like to be dismissive they wrote him off because he's 6'2" instead of 6'4" or whatever. Either way, with Corbett we now have 2 guys trained in this offense at C that can do the job, and they will start the best 5. I've heard directly that in part this is due to the fact that Evans has not done particularly well at G, which is not a complete surprise but they wanted to try. He did not do well at the end of last year subbing for Edwards either. Evans is a tackle, his best work was subbing for Havenstein. I actually thought they would try Anchrum at RG from the beginning. His build is that of a guard, but he has the feet of a tackle and they seem to like him better there.
