In particular punt returns too. Because of the mechanics of coverage team releases from that punt formation you get a much higher chance of breakdowns and seams. So threatening that with misdirection when they already have enormous probs with staying in their assigned lanes and coming down at the right time (being late or early causes gaps if you're not a gunner) makes a ton of sense.
I think we'll see a lot of teams doing more of that this year. And once McVay starts doing it everyone will.
